IIHF cancels 2020 IIHF Women's World Championship

The 2020 IIHF Women’s World Championship has been cancelled due to the ongoing coronavirus risk, but it will return to Halifax and Truro in 2021.

Q: When does the 2021 IIHF Women’s World Championship take place?
A: May 6-16, 2021. Continue to visit HockeyCanada.ca for further event details. 

Q: Where is the tournament taking place?
A: The event is being co-hosted at the Scotiabank Centre in Halifax, N.S., and the Rath Eastlink Community Centre in Truro, N.S.

Q: When will the 2021 IIHF Women’s World Championship schedule be announced?
A: The game schedule will be announced at a later date. Hockey Canada continues to work back with the International Ice Hockey Federation and other competing federations to finalize the schedule. Continue to visit HockeyCanada.ca for further event details. 

Q: Will fans be able to attend the event?
A:The Province of Nova Scotia is currently permitting a reduced number of spectators to attend sporting events, within cohorts and while maintaining physical distancing.

Q: How many fans can sit together within one cohort to maintain physical-distancing requirements?
A: The maximum number fans that can sit together in a particular row of seats within the same cohort is six, which is subject to change at the discretion of public health directives.

Q: I purchased tickets to the 2020 IIHF Women’s World Championship. Will these tickets be honoured for 2021?
A: Hockey Canada is working with both the Scotiabank Centre in Halifax and the Rath Eastlink Community Centre in Truro to ensure all purchased ticket packages can be honoured while following public health directives. If you are a current ticket holder, more information will be shared directly, as will the specifics of spectator capacity (which are subject to change) as they become available.

Q: Will I be able to purchase tickets to the 2021 IIHF Women’s World Championship?
A: Any tickets that will be made available to purchase will be subject to health authority guidelines, Scotiabank Centre and Rath Eastlink Community Centre seating capacity limits, and the number of tickets already sold.

Q:  Where will I be able to purchase tickets for the 2021 IIHF Women’s World Championship, if seats do become available?
A: Any remaining seats will be made available first to customers who have signed up for the WWC Fan List. Any additional seats will be made available for the public to purchase at HockeyCanada.ca/Tickets  and TicketAtlantic.com.
