ST. JOHN’S, ANTOINE-GIROUARD BATTLED HARD IN 3-3 TIE

LÉVIS, QUE. – Zach O’Brien (St. John’s, N.L.) fell just short of averaging four points a game as a member of the St. John’s Fog Devils during the regular season.

With 91 points in 23 games, O’Brien came one measly point shy of the four-point-a-game mark.

On Monday afternoon at the TELUS Cup, O’Brien continued the points parade with a goal and two assists during St. John’s 3-3 tie with the Gaulois du Collège Antoine-Girouard.

Cody Squires (St. John’s, N.L.) opened the scoring for the Fog Devils in the first period. Marc-Olivier Brouillard (Mont St-Hilaire, Que.) gave his team a 1-1 tie in the second before Michael Abbott’s power-play goal restored St. John’s one-goal lead. The Gaulois scored with 37 seconds left in the second period, when Olivier Jodoin (Otterburn Park, Que.) beat St. John’s goaltender Scott Bray (St. John’s, N.L.). The teams went into the third period tied 2-2.

O’Brien’s goal at 4:22 of the third period gave the Fog Devils a brief 3-2 lead. Antoine-Girouard tied the game 32 seconds later as Alexandre Lemieux’s shot beat Bray.

Each team earned a point for the tie.
