Road to the 2018 RBC Cup: MHL
The Edmundston Blizzard made their first season in northwestern New Brunswick a successful one
The Edmundston Blizzard made their first season in northwestern New Brunswick a successful one, claiming the fifth Maritime regular-season championship for the franchise and first since the Dieppe Commandos topped the standings in 2014-15. The Blizzard made their move early, winning their first seven games, and ran off another seven-game streak near the end of their schedule to cement their lead over second-place Yarmouth in the overall standings, and runner-up Summerside in the North Division. Edmundston was a middle-of-the-road team up front, with Logan Johnston (25-40—65) leading an offence than finished fifth out of 12 teams in goals, and goaltender Francis Asselin helped the Blizzard allow the third-fewest goals in the MHL, finishing second with 24 wins and eighth with a 2.60 goals-against average.
