After a two-year hiatus due to COVID-19, it’s time to crown a new Atlantic Region champion. Out of the five teams vying for a spot in the Esso Cup, only one team—the Northern Selects—has made a previous appearance at the national championship.

The Western Wind and Eastern Ice Breakers are returnees from the 2019 Atlantic tournament. For the Ice Breakers, this is their third chance in a row to compete for an appearance in the Esso Cup. The Wind serve as the hosts for this year’s regionals and boast an impressive lineup. Chloe Gallant scored 32 goals of her team’s 68 goals during the regular season.

All five teams have the potential to make an impact at the Esso Cup, boasting a combined 13-5 postseason record to advance to the Atlantics, outscoring opponents 56-38 in playoff games.
