EDMONTON, Alta. – Canada's National Junior Team recorded its third-consecutive win at the 2022 IIHF World Junior Championship, downing Czechia 5-1 on Saturday to maintain its perfect 3-0 record.

• Mason McTavish (Carp, Ont./Hamilton, OHL) led the offence with a pair of goals; the Canadian captain currently leads the World Juniors in goals (six), points (10) and plus/minus (+9).
• Kent Johnson (Port Moody, B.C./Columbus, NHL) scored a lacrosse-style goal and added an assist.
• Ridly Greig (Lethbridge, Alta./Brandon, WHL) and Tyson Foerster (Alliston, Ont./Barrie, OHL) rounded out the scoring.
• Ronan Seeley (Olds, Alta./Everett, WHL), Jack Thompson (Courtice, Ont./Sault Ste. Marie, OHL) and Logan Stankoven (Kamloops, B.C./Kamloops, WHL) chipped in with two assists apiece.
• Dylan Garand (Victoria, B.C./Kamloops, WHL) made 22 saves.
• Canada outshot Czechia 57-23.

It all happened pretty quick; I just found a loose puck behind the net and I noticed there was not a defenceman covering the right post. I just went for it and saw there was a lot of room to work with. I would have been happy to have a goal go in off my skate, but I was pretty pumped that it worked out.”

“[Johnson’s] goal was incredible. It is not something that you see every day, and I had a front-row seat to it. I was digging for the puck and it popped out to Kent, and he scooped it onto his stick so quickly. The next thing you know, the puck was in the back of the net.”

“Our line had great puck support, and we were able to find each other on the ice and make some big plays. The first couple games we did not have as much success, but tonight we were creating scoring chances and putting pucks to the net. Luckily our line was able to get a couple goals, so it was nice to get rewarded.”
