TOP REGULAR SEASON TEAM – STONEY CREEK SABRES It was a wild finish in the Lower Lakes Female Hockey League, but the Stoney Creek Sabres edged out Whitby, Oakville and Brampton by just a single point to reign atop the 38-team league. The Sabres came out of the gate hot, going unbeaten in their first eight games, and went their final 13 contests without a defeat after their lone loss, a 2-1 setback to Buffalo on Nov. 19. The offence lead the way for Stoney Creek, with its 68 goals ranked second-best in the LLFHL, while the defence more than held its own – Stoney Creek allowed just 16 goals in 22 games, good for third in the league.
