– Hockey Canada announced the addition of Raphaël Lavoie (Chambly, Que./Halifax, QMJHL) to Canada’s roster for the
Sport Chek World Junior Showcase, July 28-Aug. 4 in Kamloops, B.C.
Lavoie is eligible for the 2019 NHL Entry Draft. This season he finished
fourth in Halifax scoring with 63 points in 68 games, including 30 goals.
Lavoie played for Canada’s National Men’s Under-18 Team at the 2018 IIHF
World Championship, and for Team Canada White at the 2016 World Under-17
Hockey Canada also announced forwards and 2017 first-round NHL draft picks
Owen Tippett (Peterborough, Ont./Mississauga, OHL) and Gabe Vilardi
(Kingston, Ont./Kingston, OHL) are unable to participate due to injury.
The Sport Chek World Junior Showcase is an eight-day event featuring
Canada, Finland, Sweden, and the United States, who will play
at the Sandman Centre. Canada will dress two squads for games against a
split Team USA on July 31, before combining again as Team Canada to play
Finland on Aug. 2, Sweden on Aug. 3, and close the mini-tournament against
the United States on Aug. 4.
Fans eager to REPRESENT this December at the 2019 IIHF World
