Mason Bergh tied the game with just 1:43 to go, and Thomas Novak scored on the power play 4:56 into overtime to give the U.S. its third gold medal in a row, and sixth in seven years, despite a tournament-record 60 saves by George Sorensen.

Ilya Samsonov set a World Junior A Challenge record for saves in a shutout with 46, Kirill Kaprizov scored the winner early in the first period, Denis Guryanov added insurance in the third, and Russia won the bronze medal by blanking the Canadians.

Sandro Forrer and Tino Kessler scored the game-tying and game-winning goals 50 seconds apart in the third period, capping Switzerland’s comeback from a two-goal deficit to earn fifth place. Sheldon Rempal had both goals for the Canadians.

Shane Gersich tipped in the game-winning goal with just 2.5 seconds to go in the third period, and the Americans scored twice in the final 91 seconds to edge the Canadians, clinch first in Group A and book their semifinal berth.
