Privacy Policy for the Hockey Canada Concussion Awareness app


Hockey Canada built the Hockey Canada Concussion Awareness app (the “App”) as a Free app. This App is provided by Hockey Canada at no cost and is intended for use as is.

Hockey Canada collects certain information about you through your use of the App, or through direct engagement with you regarding the App.  Some of the information Hockey Canada collects may be “personal information” – information that identifies you personally, alone or in combination with other information available to us.  Other information may be non-personally identifiable, such as your IP address,

Hockey Canada has provided this Policy so that you will know what information Hockey Canada collects, how Hockey Canada uses this information, the types of third parties with whom Hockey Canada may share this information, and some of the choices that are available to you.

By using the App, you are consenting to the collection, use, disclosure and transfer of the information described in this Policy.  If you do not consent to the collection, use, disclosure and transfer of your information as described in this Policy, you may not use the App. We will not use or share your information with anyone except as described in this Privacy Policy.

The terms used in this Privacy Policy have the same meanings as in our Terms and Conditions, unless otherwise defined in this Privacy Policy.

What information we collect and why?

When you interact with us through your use of the App or regarding the App, we may collect data from you.  This “data” may be information that you provide directly to us, such as personal information you provide when you visit the App or contact us regarding the App, or information that is passively or automatically collected from you, such as anonymous information collected from your browser or device.  As you visit or use the App, we collect information about the device and browser you use, your network connection, your IP address, and information about the cookies installed on your device.

We may also collect personal information when  you use the App, any services offered on the app, or engage with us by email, web form, phone or through our websites. This information will vary, but typically consists of name, e-mail address, phone number, and other similar contact data

We may also collect any additional information that you might provide to us during direct interaction with us, along with usage data such as the programs and features that you access on the App.
Generally, we use the information collected as described above:

  • to provide and enhance the App;
  • to provide you with effective customer service;
  • to provide you with a personalized experience when you use the App;
  • to contact you with information and notices related to your use of the App;
  • to improve the content, functionality and usability of the App;
  • to better understand your needs and interests;
  • to improve our products and services;
  • for any other purpose identified in an applicable privacy notice, click-through agreement or other agreement between you and us.

 

Hockey Canada retains the personal information collected by the App or by us in association with the App for as long as is necessary to provide the services, products and information you request, or as permitted by applicable law.

Log Data

If an error occurs while you are using the App, we collect data and information (through third party products) on your phone called Log Data. This Log Data may include information such as your device Internet Protocol (“IP”) address, device name, operating system version, the configuration of the App when the error occurred, the time and date of your use of the App, and other statistics.

Cookies

Cookies are files with a small amount of data that are commonly used as anonymous unique identifiers. These are sent to your browser from the websites that you visit and are stored on your device's internal memory.
We use “cookies” and other technologies to collect information and support certain features of the App.  For example, we may use these technologies to:

  • collect information about the way you use the App – which pages you visit, which links you use, and how long you stay on a page;
  • support the features and functionality of the App – for example, to save you the trouble of re-entering information already in our database or to prompt the settings you established on previous visits; and

  • To assist us in analyzing how our App is used.

We value your trust in providing us your Personal Information and take reasonable precautions to provide a level of security appropriate to the sensitivity of the information we collect. Children’s Privacy

You must be at least 13 years old to have our permission to use our App. We do not knowingly collect, use or disclose, personally identifiable information regarding children under 13.   If you are under the age of 13, you may use the App only with your parent’s or guardian’s permission.  If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so that we may take appropriate action.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Thus, you are advised to review this page periodically for any changes. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page. These changes are effective immediately after they are posted on this page.
