2011-12 National Women's Under-22 Team

Game Summary

Canada U22 6 - Switzerland 0

RATTRAY, CAMPBELL BOTH SCORE TWICE IN CANADA’S 6-0 VICTORY OVER SWITZERLAND

FÜSSEN, Germany – Canada's unbeaten run at the 2012 Meco Cup continued Friday with a 6-0 victory over Switzerland.

Jamie Lee Rattray (Kanata, Ont./Clarkson University, ECAC) and Jessica Campbell (Melville, Sask./Cornell University, ECAC) each scored twice in the team's third straight round-robin victory. Sarah Edney (Mississauga, Ont./Harvard University, Hockey East) and Tara Watchorn (Newcastle, Ont./Boston University, Hockey East) also had goals for Canada’s National Women’s Under-22/Development Team.

“It went pretty well,'' said Canadian forward Sarah Davis (Paradise, N.L./University of Minnesota, WCHA). “We just tried to keep it simple and not ever be satisfied. We just took advantage of our chances and managed to capitalize on six tonight.”

Rattray scored both of her goals in the first period, while Campbell got hers in the middle frame. Canada has outscored its opponents by a combined total of 16-1 so far in the tournament.

Canada wraps up the tournament, formerly known as the MLP Cup, with games against Sweden on Saturday and Finland on Sunday.

“We've been successful so far, but we know we've got two very good teams coming up in the next couple days,” Davis said. “So we've got to focus on that now.”

Canada outscored Slovakia 13-0 over a two-game series before the tournament. The Canadians spent about 10 days together at a camp last August, but had just one practice day last week before the start of exhibition play.
