The Hockey Canada Concussion Awareness app is a great tool for parents, coaches,
trainers, players, administrators and anyone interested in learning about the prevention,
recognition and response to concussion injury, including responsible return-to-play protocol.
The Hockey Canada Concussion Awareness app for kids is a great tool for parents to teach young players how
to prevent concussions through respect and playing by the rules. The app explains important concussion
information in an easy-to-follow manner for young players and contains an interactive game around
respect starring Puckster, the official mascot of Hockey Canada.
A SPECIAL NOTE TO PARENTS
– As we are all aware any activity has a certain amount of risk
attached to it - but if the sport is played the way it is meant to be played – with respect and by the
rules the health benefits will far outweigh the risks.
The Hockey Canada Concussion app for kids contains great information and we recommend that parents and
guardians go through the information with their young players!

Hello hockey fans,
Simply put, hockey is Canada’s game. It is a game that brings us together as Canadians, from the frozen
pond to the community rink.
It is a game that helps us grow not only as players, but as people, teaching us teamwork, how to win (and
how to lose) and respect – respect for the game, for ourselves and for our fellow players.
As part of that respect, Hockey Canada has worked hard to eliminate head contact from the game, preventing
concussions and keeping players on the ice. For us, keeping players safe is just as important as teaching
players to skate, pass and shoot.
To help in the prevention of concussions, Hockey Canada has created a concussion app, giving players,
parents, coaches and volunteers instant access to concussion symptoms and information on how to manage a
concussion.
Check out www.hockeycanada.ca/apps, download the app and
help keep our game safe.
Thank you for your passion for our game, and we’ll see you on the ice!
Sincerely,
Bob Nicholson

Hockey Canada

Hey everybody!
It’s my favourite season of the year – hockey season! I love to visit arenas across Canada and watch the
players enjoy the game as much as I do, especially the young ones who are just getting their start!
Hockey is such an amazing game, and it teaches us so much, not only on the ice, but off of it as well. It
teaches us how to be a great teammate and how to have respect – for the game, for ourselves and for the other
players on the ice.
Hockey Canada is doing a great job keeping players safe by taking head contact out of the game and
preventing concussions. Learning how to play safe is just as important as learning how to shoot the puck!
Do you want to learn more about concussions? Hockey Canada just launched a brand-new app that helps
parents, coaches and other volunteers recognize concussion symptoms and tells them how to manage a
concussion. The app even has a great game for you to try out!
Check out www.hockeycanada.ca/apps, download the app and
play safe.
See you on the ice!
