Scott Niedermayer has added yet another item to his long list of accomplishments – Niedermayer’s No. 28 was raised to the rafters by the Kamloops Blazers before a WHL game on Jan. 25.

Summit Series hero Paul Henderson, coaching legend Dave King and six-time Stanley Cup champion Mark Messier have been announced as Distinguished Honourees to the Order of Hockey in Canada for 2013.

Jim Peplinski, who served as co-chair of the 2012 IIHF World Junior Championship, was honoured Oct. 17 with Sport Calgary’s first Event Champion of the Year Award for his World Junior efforts.

Twenty-eight players from across Prince Edward Island were selected to participate in Hockey Canada’s Dreams Come True program, which was held in association with KidSport and Hockey PEI.

The stars were out in Toronto on Monday night as the first group of Order of Hockey in Canada inductees were honoured at the Air Canada Centre as part of the annual Hockey Canada Foundation gala.
