The United States' sledge hockey team did what its able bodied counterparts could not, capturing a gold
medal in Vancouver. The Japanese team played well, but fell a short of a story book ending, with the
Americans earning a 2-0 shutout win.

A goal with less than four seconds to play in the game gave Norway sledge hockey bronze Friday evening in
Vancouver. Eskil Hagen’s shot from the boards deflected up and just eluded Canadian netminder Paul
Rosen.

CANADA 1 –
JAPAN 3
SEMIFINAL | THU. MAR. 18
Japan scored twice in the third period to stun Canada 3-1 and advance to the Paralympic sledge hockey
final. Canada will now play for bronze on Friday evening against either USA or Norway. Marc
Dorion scored Canada’s only goal.

NORWAY 0
PRELIMINARY | TUE. MAR. 16
Greg Westlake scored twice, giving him a tournament-leading seven goals, and Brad Bowden added a goal and
three assists as the Canadians set up a Thursday semifinal date with Japan by blanking the Norwegians.

Greg Westlake notched a hat trick and added two assists and Marc Dorion scored three goals of his own as
Canada clinched a semifinal spot with a rout of the Italians. Brad Bowden added two goals and two
helpers.

Greg Westlake scored twice in four minutes to break open a tight game in the third period and Canadian
flagbearer Jean Labonté added a goal and an assist as Canada opened the Paralympics by blanking the
Italians.
