Schedule and ticket information announced for 2023 IIHF Women's World Championship

Tournament begins on April 5 in Brampton, Ont.

CALGARY, Alta. – Hockey Canada, the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) and the Ontario Women’s Hockey Association (OWHA) have released the schedule for the 2023 IIHF Women’s World Championship, which is set to take place April 5-16 at CAA Centre in Brampton, Ont.

In the preliminary-round, Group A will feature Canada, Czechia, Japan, Switzerland and the United States, while Finland, France, Germany, Hungary and Sweden will form Group B.

The 31-game schedule will begin on April 5 with France facing Finland at 11 a.m. ET, the United States facing off against Japan at 3 p.m. ET and Canada beginning defence of its gold medal versus Switzerland at 7 p.m. ET.

Czechia, Hungary, Germany and Sweden will begin tournament play on April 6.

In a rematch of the 2022 IIHF Women’s World Championship gold medal game, Canada and the United States will play each other on Apr. 10 at 7 p.m. ET.

All four quarterfinals are scheduled for April 13, with the two semifinals set for April 15. The tournament will finish on April 16, with the 5th place game at 9 a.m. ET, bronze medal game at 3 p.m. ET and gold medal game at 7 p.m. ET.

Canada is hosting women’s worlds for the ninth time and has won gold in six of eight tournaments played on home ice.

Fans can secure their seats to watch the best women’s hockey players in the world beginning today, with a tournament package pre-sale for the 16,000 fans who signed up on the priority ticket list, before tournament packages and group tickets go on-sale to the public on Jan. 26 at HockeyCanada.ca/Tickets.  

If any ticket inventory remains, single-game tickets will go on-sale in late February or early March.

TSN and RDS, the official broadcasters of Hockey Canada, will announce the tournament broadcast schedule at a later date.
