Head Coach/GM – James Poole Record – 43W 12L 5OTL (91 points)
Why They’re No. 4 For the second year in a row the Oilers will sit and watch Round 1 of the AJHL playoffs from the sidelines after winning the South Division’s regular season title and earning a first-round bye. The key for the Oilers was their offence – Okotoks led the AJHL with 254 goals, 21 more than Spruce Grove, the No. 1 ranked team in the country. Kyle Reynolds brought the AJHL scoring title to Okotoks with a 78-point season, beating Brooks’ Matt Wilkins by a single point despite playing 11 games less than the Bandits’ sniper. The Oilers’ run to first place was aided by one of the most impressive runs in Canadian Junior A hockey – between November 26 and February 1, Okotoks went 21 consecutive games without losing in regulation time, going 19-0-2 over that stretch. |
