HALIFAX, NS – Mr. Fred MacGillivray, Event Chair of the 2008 IIHF World Championship and President and CEO of Trade Centre
Limited, announced today that mini-packs for the 2008 IIHF World Championship for Halifax will go on sale to
the general public on Friday, November 9th at 11:00 AM (Atlantic Time).
"Now the momentum for the 2008 IIHF World
Championship really begins to rev up with the opening of mini-pack sales," said Fred MacGillivray. "This
is the part of the planning that the Committee has been looking forward to the most - the opportunity for the
fans in our community to get game packages so everyone can enjoy this landmark sporting event in our
community."
This major sport event is well known for its global significance, its extensive media coverage and provides
great visibility to the host country and cities. It also showcases many of the best hockey players in
the world today, thrilling hundreds of millions of TV viewers.
Since 2003, Canada has captured three gold medals and one silver medal and is the defending World Champion,
attempting to become the first team since 1986 to win a World title on home ice.
The Halifax Organizing Committee expects that the choice of five mini-packs will appeal to families and fans
looking for affordable ways to catch the action and experience this 1st time Championship in Canada. The

1. Opening Weekend 8-pack -
$489 and $399 (all tax and service charges included). See all eight teams starting from the opening
game Friday, May 2nd through Monday, May 5th. Eight Games, including 2 Team Canada.
2. Opening Weekend Bonus 10-pack -
$660 and $536 (all tax and service charges included). Buy the same seat for both Quarter Finals games
before the single tickets go on sale. Includes 8-pack games plus two Quarter Finals
3. Canada – USA Feature 4-pack -
$244 and $199 (all tax and service charges included). Four Preliminary Round games Tuesday and
Wednesday. Features Canada versus USA and Finland versus Slovakia.
4. Final Weekend Playoff 6-pack -
$375 and $307.50 (all tax and service charges included). Includes games of teams who must win to
advance. Six of the games that matter on the second weekend of the championship. Qualification
Round for teams going on the Quarter-Finals or facing elimination. The MUST WIN games!

The IIHF World Championship gathers the top 16 hockey countries playing 56 exciting games leading to the
crowning of a World Champion and in May 2008, the 72nd IIHF World Championship will come to Canada for the
first time ever as it will be co-hosted by Halifax and Quebec City from May 2nd to May 18th.
Halifax will host Canada, USA, Finland, Slovakia, Germany, Latvia, Norway and Slovenia, while Quebec City
will host Sweden, Russia, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Belarus, Denmark, France and Italy.
