Forwards Scott Brannon and John Tavares Injured at Canada's National Summer Under-18 Team Selection Camp

CALGARY, AB – Hockey Canada, along with the Canadian Hockey League, announced on Monday that forwards Scott Brannon (Churchville, NS/Cape Breton, QMJHL) and John Tavares (Oakville, ON/ Oshawa, OHL) were injured during Sunday’s Red vs. White intersquad game and will not be able to continue participating in the National Summer Under-18 Team Selection Camp.

Tavares suffered an injury to his left leg during the first period, while Brannon was suffering from concussion-like symptoms following a hit in the third period.

Brannon and Tavares will both be returning home on Monday where they will get further evaluation and treatment.

Canada’s National Summer Under-18 Team Selection Camp will run through August 2nd at the Father David Bauer Arena in Calgary, AB, at which time the roster for the Junior World Cup will be announced. The Selection Camp includes practices and three Red/White intersquad games. Team Red scored a 6-4 victory over Team White in Game # 1 on Sunday at the Father David Bauer Arena in Calgary.
