Why They’re No. 1

The defending AJHL champs actually started their year with a loss – two in the first three games, in fact – but have been on fire since and currently sit nine points up on Okotoks for the best record in the league. While the offence has done its part, scoring the second-most goals in the AJHL, the defence has been the story – the Saints have allowed a miniscule 83 goals in 48 games, 34 less than second-place Fort McMurray. Goaltenders Vincenzo Marozzi and Joel Miller sit one-two in goals against average and save percentage, and Marozzi’s 29 wins and seven shutouts lead the league.
