WEYBURN, SK – After seven days of competition and two semi-final games, it has come down to the Camrose
Kodiaks (Pacific Region) and the Weyburn Red Wings (Host) facing off for the 2005 RBC Royal Bank Cup.
The Weyburn Red Wings and the Camrose Kodiaks will meet in Sunday’s RBC Royal Bank Cup championship game,
which will be played at the Weyburn (SK) Colosseum at 5:30pm (MT), 7:30pm (ET) and will be broadcast live
across the country on TSN and RDS. Weyburn defeated Camrose 3-1 during the round robin portion of the
championship earlier in the week.
In Saturday’s first semi-final, the Weyburn Red Wings (Host) defeated the Hawkesbury Hawks (East Region) 4-3
in an epic battle that wasn’t decided until the third overtime, giving them a berth in Sunday’s championship
game. The Red Wings Colby Nichol was the hometown hero as he scored at 16:54 of the third overtime. The
Weyburn Red Wings finished the round robin portion of the championship in first place with a 3-1 record.
Saturday’s second semi-final featured the Camrose Kodiaks (Pacific Region) and the Georgetown Raiders
(Central Region), with the Kodiaks coming out on top by 8-2. Camrose’s Mason Raymond, who was named Top
Forward in the tournament earlier in the week, had two goals for the Kodiaks. Camrose finished the round
robin portion of the championship in second place with a 3-1 record.
