Grigori Dikushin tied the game late in the third period and scored the game-winning goal 8:27 into overtime as Russia advanced to the gold medal game for the first time since beating Ontario for the top prize in 2000.

 

UNITED STATES 2 – SWEDEN 1 (SO)SEMIFINAL | TUE. JAN. 3

Evan Allen and Anthony Louis scored goals in the shootout and Thatcher Demko stopped both Swedish shooters he faced as the Americans booked a spot in the gold medal game for the fifth time in the last six years.

 

PACIFIC 5 – QUEBEC 4 (OT)
5TH PLACE | TUE. JAN. 3

Josh Morrissey scored the game-winner on a power play three minutes into the extra frame as Pacific rebounded from giving up a two-goal third-period lead, claiming fifth with a win in an all-Canadian battle in LaSalle.

 

ATLANTIC 4 – CZECH REPUBLIC 2
7TH PLACE | TUE. JAN. 3

Bronson Beaton scored the game-tying and game-winning goals and Noah Zilbert added a pair of assists as Atlantic finished its tournament with a victory, knocking off the Czechs in the seventh-place game in Tecumseh.

 

GERMANY 6 – WEST 3
9TH PLACE | TUE. JAN. 3

Tim Bender and Leon Draisaitl had a goal and an assist each as the Germans erased a 3-0 deficit after one period to claim ninth place and leave West as the first Canadian team to go without a win since Atlantic in 2001.

For the second time in the tournament Nikita Serebryakov stonewalled the United States, this time making 45 saves in a gold medal game victory and earning his second nod as No. 1 on the U17 3 Stars of the Day. » more
