The Past, The Present, The Future: From Canada’s National Junior A Championship to the NHL
The Canadian Hockey Foundation has established a series of Funds to meet both
present and future needs.
Individuals, families, corporations or groups with a common interest can establish a separate Fund to support
a broad field of interest within Canadian hockey.
The Canadian Hockey Foundation Legacy Fund
An internally restricted endowment Fund established by the Board of Directors of the Foundation. Income from
the Legacy Fund will be used to help provide solutions to the immediate challenges facing Canadian hockey
while at the same time creating much needed stability for long term planning.
The Canadian Hockey Foundation Heritage Fund
An endowment Fund established to hold unrestricted gifts designated for permanent endowment. Income from the
General Endowment Fund will be used to provide the Board of Directors of the Foundation with the flexibility
to respond to the most pressing needs facing Canadian hockey.
The Canadian Hockey Foundation Flow-Through Fund
Gifts not designated to the endowment program will be deposited to this Fund. The Flow-Through Fund will be
used to fund activities for similar purposes as Foundation endowment funds. Accumulated contributions from
this Fund will be disbursed during the year they are received.
The Canadian Hockey Foundation Operating Fund
A Fund established for the purpose of supporting ongoing Foundation operations. Contributions include those
given for specific purposes related to the management of the Foundation, along with any unrestricted
donations as the Board of Directors may from time to time determine.
The Molson Olympic Hockey Fund
A Corporate Community Investment Fund created to celebrate and commemorate Canada’s gold medal victories at
the 2002 Olympic Games in Salt Lake City. Established with a gift from Molson on behalf of the
players of Canada’s Men’s Gold medal team, this special Fund serves as permanent reminder of this
historic event in Canada’s hockey history. Income from the Fund will be used to fund the future development
of Hockey Canada grassroots programs, activities, and initiatives.
Named Endowment Funds
At the time your gift is made a formal Fund Agreement is established between you and the Foundation outlining
the purpose of the Fund. The Fund's initiating capital and any further additions are held in perpetuity and
only the income earned is disbursed. You may name the Fund for yourself or family members, for a company, or
a friend. Named funds can also have names that convey a specific goal or purpose, or identify a scholarship
program.
