FULL HOUSE SEES CALGARY DOWN MISSISSAUGA Charlottetown, PEI – The Calgary Oval X-Treme kicked off its attempt at a second-straight Esso Women’s Nationals with a 6-1 win over the Mississauga Chiefs on Thursday night. The game was played before more than 1,200 people in the first-ever sellout of the CARI Complex. Colleen Sostorics opened the scoring was a blast from the point on the power play at 13:31 of the first period. Calgary then added three goals in the second, with Meagan Walton, Rebecca Russell and Delaney Collins finding the back of the net. Walton finished with two assists for a three-point night for Calgary. Hayley Wickenheiser and Kaley Hall scored for Calgary in the third period. Wickenheiser also had two helpers. Heather Logan scored Missassauga’s lone goal. The Oval X-Treme won the 2007 Esso Women’s Nationals in Salmon Arm. Calgary now faces the Brampton Canadette-Thunder in a Friday semi-final, as Brampton lost 6-4 to the Minnesota Whitecaps on Thursday. Minnesota and Missassauga will face one another in the other semi.
